All the disease is gone! My children are back to their happy selves. Peryn is making hilarious faces and Amelia is still saying the funniest things. I'm just glad to have my kids back. One week of disease while both parents are working is pretty difficult. I was lucky enough to have Kevin home with me for 3 of the 5 weekdays they were sick so that lightened the load A LOT. The days he was gone, work was impossible and I was crazy by noon. We have lots of catching up. Enjoy the pictures... and the explanations :)

Peryn's birthday is in December and tradition is that the girl cousins get their ear pierced together when they turn 1 (if they're close in age). Peryn has one cousin born in October so we chose middle ground, November, to get their ears pierced. Isn't she cute?! (Exactly 36 hrs after Peryn and Amelia were fever-free we put Peryn through more pain. She was a trooper though. Hardly a tear)

Just before the worst of the pig flu hit Peryn somehow got the chicken pox. Here is a faint picture of the leftover spots. This was taken about 3 days after the spots appeared. I'm actually kind of sad we didn't get pictures when they were bright red :(
What kind of parents would we be if our children missed Halloween, especially a first Halloween?! Peryn was sad with the chicken pox by Saturday but we had to endure it so she could experience the true spirit of... Halloween. The best part? She slept through almost all of trick-or-treating because it was her bed time and she was sick.
We tried the caterpillar but she didn't like it much. We then opted for the famous monkey costume from when Amelia was littler. Amelia was the cow from last year because, well, we're cheap and she's cute as a cow! Doesn't Peryn look THRILLED?!
After trick-or-treating until about 8-830, we visited my parents and then headed home. (If only it was that easy.) Just as we arrived at my parents' home Peryn started coughing while in her carseat. Then she coughed, choked, coughed, choked. I hurried to open the door and get her out and I somehow managed to get our out of the carseat before she threw up all over it. Instead she covered her costume and the ground. Don't worry, it's machine washable... at least to me. Who hand washes ANYTHING these days anyway?
So now the fever begins for the both of them. We put both of them to bed Halloween night with fevers of 102F. Notice the eyes in the next few pictures as well as the attempt toward happy faces.

AND Kevin is so sweet. Tuesday night we ran out of medicine for them so on Kevin's way home from work he not only picked up medicine but a stuffed animal for each of them so they can "remember" the time they were sick with mysterious pig disease. I thought that was so sweet! Plus, they LOVE them!! This is the morning when they woke up to find their new toys!

Phew! And last, but not least, another tradition was followed through today. For every granchild's first birthday, Kevin's mom buys them a Build-A-Bear animal. We always make a group trip out of it with the other cousins close to the same age. Here's Peryn's polar bear "Flake." We found out today she will give kisses on command. So other than eating any and all of it's features, she would also give it kisses. Awww.

So that's been our life in a nutshell over the last 2 weeks. Crazy eh?

Glad that the sickness is all gone!! Holy cow, what a crazy week. Even with all the sickies and sleepless nights you were still able to carry on traditions - way to go! You definitely have more energy than me :)
